Introducing photographer Lauren Semino, a Boston native, in her debut exhibition, Skin, Water, Fabric. The black and white series of semi-abstracted human figures has the morbid undertone of Serranos series, The Morgue, as well as the tender and subtle sentimentality of Bonnards bathtub paintings. One must investigate patiently her photographs to decipher the forms, of which she has transformed the commonality of the human figure into a ethereal conversation between skin, water, and fabric. As a result, the viewer finds an array of textures and tones, as well as an insight into the themes of skin/body/beauty/death.
